Italy confirms new maestro
OrchestrasThe Italian broadcasting system RAI has confirmed the appointment of the Colombian Andrés Orozco-Estrada, 46, as principal conductor of its national orchestra. He will be presented at a press conference on Wednesday.
Slippedisc reported the deal a week ago. The new maestro will split his schedule with his other job in Cologne.
… and his third job teaching at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (MDW).
Not so unusual. His successor at Frankfurt, Alain Altinoglu, is also music director at La Monnaie and a professor of conducting at the Paris Conservatoire.
Orozco Estrada is in addition the longstanding Director Titular of the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia.
As long as he splits his fee, where’s the problem?
