Muti goes bearing gifts to Syrians
NewsThe conductor has announced plans to visit displaced Syrian musicians living among 80,000 others in the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan.
He will conduct Italian and Jordanian musicians in the Roman amphitheater in Jerash on July 9 and in the Pompeii archaeological site on July 11 as part of his Roads of Friendship concert series.
Together with the Ravenna Festival, Muti will bring instruments to the refugee musicians to enable them to continue their careers.
Muti is the new Mehta, now showing up to perform in places where music could not (how could it?) change the course of events or circumstances. But good PR for him.
What a shameful comment!
Agree. Except Mehta is an engaging conductor.
As if he needed any PR at this stage of his career. When will people realize that what they attribute to others is nothing but the projection of their own desires?
Quest’uomo ha onore ed etica.
Very funny. Precisely the qualities that he is utterly lacking.
My friend in orchestra she receive many pictures on the phone but she don’t want to show the pictures! but she is very happy
