Conductor turns up in Jeffrey Epstein diaries
OrchestrasThe Wall Street Journal and Fox News have details of meetings with prominent individuals in the sex criminal’s diary. The meetings were scheduled after Epstein’s first conviction in 2008.
Among the individuals named is the Bard College president and American Symphony Orchestra conductor Leon Botstein, who met Epstein on several occasions in 2012.
Botstein told the Journal: ‘I was an unsuccessful fundraiser and actually the object of a little bit of sadism on his part in dangling philanthropic support. That was my relationship with him.’
He added: ‘We looked him up, and he was a convicted felon for a sex crime. We believe in rehabilitation.’
Epstein “collected” influential or prominent public celebrities, politicians, and intellectuals like Botstein, seemingly mostly by posing as someone with even more money than he actually had (and he had plenty). All can be overlooked or even forgiven evidently when there might be cash prizes at stake.
The person who really comes off badly in these recent revelations (apart from Epstein of course) is not Botstein, but Noam Chomsky.
Chomsky is nothing compared to the head of the CIA.
.
Head if the CIA not mentioned in this article. You’re fixated.
There are no “revelations” in the above article. It’s three paragraphs. Choose isn’t mentioned. You may be fixated.
The small article above refers to the full Wall Street Journal article, which I read. It does refer to the head of the CIA William Burns, as well as Noam Chomsky, and of course to Botstein as well. And many others, including a White House lawyer, which was the context for my comment and, I assume, PaulD’s. It is quite an article.
“Dangling”? Is this a Freudian slip?
Shades of Alberto Vilar …
Both sociopaths, but VERY different.
Haha, “we believe in rehabilitation”… yeah, just as long as the convict has a well-filled purse
Actually Brian, that is incorrect in all resepcts. Bard College at which Mr. Botstein is President, has an exemplary program working with those incarcerated as part of a developed rehabilitation program the College has supported for many years.
bit of an exaggeration to call Mr. Botstein a conductor…
I flew from England to hear him do Elgar’s APOSTLES at Carnegie Hall (first in USA since the composer did it. it was said) and he was excellent.
Are we going to pillory everybody who ever met the guy?
Apparently but let’s admit it the headline had us clicking. So it makes good click bait.
