An eminent cellist dies at 75
RIPWe have been notified of the passing of the cellist Valter Dešpalj.
A Croatian of Albanian heritage, he studied at Juilliard, gave concerts the world over and was professor in Zagreb.
His influence far exceeded his fame.
Sad news, indeed. A classmate of mine at Juilliard, Valter possessed exceptional talent and a great sense of humor. He became a highly successful cello teacher. Condolences to his family and students.
He was a wonderful Musician, cellist, teacher, arranger and dear friend and colleague and will be missed by everyone who has had a pleasure to know him…
RIP

A good and talented man. Met him only once, but heard many good things about him. Rest in Peace.
