Just in: Salzburg reunites Kaufmann and Netrebko for Easter
OperaNikolaus Bahler has just rolled out his aggressively neutral Salzburg Easter festival.
The semi-unbanned Anna Netrebko will join Jonas Kaufmann in Amilcare Ponchielli’s La Gioconda, conducted by Antonio Pappano. it will be Netrebko’s role debut, for what that’s worth in present circumstances.
Pappanno will also conduct the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Verdi’s Requiem.
Peace on earth.
These folk have no ethics or morals whatsoever. It is all about their advancement and remuneration.
A.L. – Sorry? What? Who are you talking about and what are you saying about them?
Sickening, but not surprising from a festival that’s in bed with Gazprom and which has hosted Teodor Currentzis’s orchestra (whose funds are tied to the Kremlin).
Sadly, this really won’t hurt them and news media outlets will send critics to review the concerts like it’s business as usual.
What a NONSENSE!!!
Easter Festival has nothing to do with Summer Festival and the Russian friend Correnzis and Gasprom!
Please: first check before spreading lieys
You are so true and full of embarrassing mistakes here as always – shame on you for so much nonsense
Your comment suggests you don’t know what you’re talking about, Carl. In those circumstances, it’s generally better not to burst into print.
Your comment suggests that you’re a Russian troll, MJA. In these circumstances best to go back to supporting brutal wars on sovereign countries.
Can she actually sing Gioconda?
Of course she can. It plays to all her strengths. She’ll have a great and deserved success
I was planning to book Tannhauser then I saw a wee snippet of the production and changed my mind. Besides Salzburg empties your bank account.
it’s sold out so don’t worry and you don’t seem to go for quality as the cast plus excellent orchestra and conductor is unique at the moment
Best is you stay where ever you are
Austria is rather a pro-Russian country.
So what ? There aren’t enough pro Ukronazis countries ?
And so is Hungary. Hmmm…, Austria + Hungary, when did I hear that before?
I guess Austria’s proRussian inclinations are more subtle . The subtler they are, the more they stink though.
That’s why an Italian orchestra and a British conductor perform at the private Salzburg Easter Festival. Actually they are all Austrians and therefore prone to subtle, but stinky “proRussian inclinations”. 😉
It’s where Beethoven and Brahms lived and where Haydn, Schubert and Mozart were born and lived.
Come on, it s about protecting oligarchs’privileges. Great music is just facade. And musicians , star musicians, are very well paid clowns.
I don’t consider Anna Netrebko necessarily a Putin supporter , but her presence in this Salzburg context is probably required by Russian oligarchs who are very much thriving on Austrian smelly hypocrisy.
She should stay away /have stayed from Salzburg. Because the Russian oligarch connection is too explicit. But the money must be so big, the mafia so powerful, that they, the stars, just cannot refuse.
Probably in the good old times. 🙂
Sure, Santa Cecilia is a famous Austrian orchestra, Sir Anthony Pappano is a famous Austrian conductor, and the audience at the Easter Festival is full of Austrians … 😉
Et tu, Tony Pappano?
Artists are not politicians. Allow them to practise their art and do not slander them. It is difficult enough for them to make a living.
Why all these political talk in every single Netrebko post?
The absurdity here is that both Netrebko & Kauffmann are severely undercasted in Gioconda…
Spring 2024…in these stormy days one year ahead is too much time..let s see if he will show up and she ll be able to show up
Thanks God! Finally! Art, Sport are the special “talentum” of humanity, this beauty and activity have no relation in the nusty part of our everyday life even help us to forget the dirty political life , war and its pure financial background! Wecsn enjoy the top actrisses, actors dirigents wieder an Salzburg Búhne in 2024 Easter! Congratulation! !!!!!! for the drcidion of the new Director eho has the right judgment anout Art and life! ✌✌
I’m sure the people of Ukraine would prefer to forget the dirty political life and replace the sound of explosions and gunfire (nasty everyday life for them) with the sound of beautiful music.
Are we forgetting that Anna Netrebko is not banned in Europe( Italy,France Austria and Germany), the Balkans, South America, Israel, etc. She gets great reviews, and her appearances most often sell out. And, she is considered to be one of the best Soprano in the world today. So I am curious to know what you mean by, “…for what that’s worth in present circumstances.” Just the facts, please.
