I like that piece. I’m not sure it would make me want to buy the album, but I do like it.
Yuja is truly a force of nature.
Great sounding piece. Looking forward to hearing the Abram’s work.
A whimsical piece from MTT, perfomed with strut, loved it!
The thing about Yuja, you never know if she is posing for Deutsche Grammophon or a crush video.
DG, I’m sure, doesn’t mind blurring the boundaries…
What does it say about your reputation when your friend and mentor, an eminent maestro no less, writes a piece for you, and the theme and name he lands on is …. “You come here often?” … replete with a cat call whistle in the middle of the piece!
At the same time ….
MTT would never have dared to write a piece for Leonard Bernstein called “You come here often?”, it would’ve cut waaay too close to the bone, being one gay man commenting on another gay man’s lifestyle.
“You come here often?” = “You come to SFS often?” and yes, she does. Not sure how you managed to over think this much.
Only MTT could get away with it, Salonen or Adams couldn’t, people would think they were dirty old men.
It sounds like contemporary jazz.
When you press play, the length of the piece is shown (4:33)
Is it a homage to the Cage masterpiece?
The piece is worthless. Sometimes a great performance of a mediocre piece can make it sound better than it is. But this performance gives no value to the piece. Sorry.
I think this is a wonderful piece and maybe others will play it
Brilliant piece,brilliantly played….
It is a fun piece indeed and Yuja Wang has been playing it with her usual brilliance as one of her encores for several years now.
The most important thing about the Chinese pianist are her legs, in her shows she exposes them up to her hips, on the cover the photographer has skillfully staged them. That will remain of Wang: The showgirl with the bare legs.
