One of those careers, that I will NEVER understand.

    • RW2013 says:

      ditto Max.

    • Old Man in the Midwest says:

She looks like a student conductor when I see her on the TV clip.

But she may tick off the boxes that the Fourth Floor wants.

In the past, these conductors wouldn’t have been in front of the CSO but now with the dumbing down of concerts in general, I guess a Ukrainian woman puts this opportunity front and center.

      • Mem says:

And the Fourth Floor got what they wanted: local TV coverage, a mention on this site, some buzz, so hopefully a couple of more seats sold on the CSO website (before it’s hacked by the Russians).

  • Robin says:

Credit where it’s certainly due. Good on her. Congratulations.

Deep dish pizza is an abomination.

  • TNVol says:

    Shut up and conduct.

  • Fernandel says:

Just as inconsistent as Oksana Lyniv. But, shhh… don’t say it too loud.

  • Make Arts Great Again says:

Clearly many of the regular musicians didn’t want to be there. Look at all of those subs!

  • trumpetherald says:

The usual arm chair conductor old farts adding their two cents here….the rest of the musical world doesn´t care.Played under her….She is quite good.the rest will come with experience.

  • Retired Musician says:

Attended the concert on Thursday evening. CSO hit a new low with this awful Tchaikovsky accompaniment.
She is not even qualified to conduct a local orchestra in Illinois in my opinion. Hilary wasn’t at her best that night but at least she was very helpful and saved conductor’s butt few times.

Performance of Bartok’s concerto wasn’t great either…a real disappointment.
Kudos to the new flutist Yevgeny for beautiful solos in Tchaikovsky concerto as well as the Bass section, Bassoons and Clarinet and of course Trumpets in Bartok.
    .
I agree, I saw quite a few subs in the string section this week.
