Horror movie?
Artsy-fartsy comes to mind.
Seems the initial screening will be at the Venice International Film Festival which begins next months and schedule in NYC a month later.
Is this really going to attract a more under-represented n privileged audience in a more equitable, accessible n inclusive world that reimagines classical music that it desperately needs?
Why do you think that is what the director intends? Tár is a psycho-drama it would seem.
This time, instead of Mahler, the music is by Caroline Shaw – her “Partita for 8 Voices.”
why was this striking composition not used in the actual film..?
Will be interesting to see how audiences respond given the low priority and niggardly interest in classical music these days. At least it’s a chance to see one of my very favorite British actors of all time again: Julian Glover.
Thanks for sharing.
I’ll certainly skip this one !
I believe that this was meant as an “art” film (excuse the pun), not meant for the popular audience. However, from the reviews it seems that the character was loosely based on a composite a couple of conductors who over the last several years were involved in scandals and I would like to see how the director handles it.
I’m still waiting for the opera to come out on the life of James Levine (although I don’t believe that his estate will allow it unfortunately).
