Refreshingly crazy….
Good to see Gould in light-hearted mood for a change!
So young. Wonderful..
Lousy lip-synch-er.
Is that clip colorized?
Too bad he became unable to play before a live audience.
There have been many impersonations of Gould over the years — and he himself was into role playing — but I need more convincing proof this is really THE Gould. You can’t always believe what you see or hear. Yes, so young — but it’s 1956 — Gould was very busy giving concerts in the U.S. — I could not find any references to the Bahamas in any biography — is this not some kind of spoof ?

This article from 12 years ago mentions this same clip. It appears authentic.

This is fantastic. To see a genius like Glenn Gould letting the hair down. There’s a misconception in some circles, I feel, in that he’s often been regarded as a freak, a neurotic, an obsessive numbers guy & a reclusive. He was an extremely brilliant man of intense feelings who just happened to have something such as Bipolar disorder which, of course, made him the extraordinary musician/man he was.
Glenn Gould was a wonderful genius, a great creative, original person who, like many people with extremely high intelligence, was incomprehensible to ordinary folk. He had a great sense of ironic humor.
There are too many musicians who have followed in recent years who are so cookie-cutter and lacking in original ideas, and, frankly, boring! I miss Glenn Gould!
That doesn’t like similar to any photo or video I’ve ever seen of Glenn Gould. I also suspect that that’s not 1956 as well. I’m not trying to be right – I just have my doubts.
