Top US soprano appeals for ailing husband

The soprano Janice Baird, one of the great Elektras of our time, is raising funds to care for her husband Lothar, who has cancer of the oesophegus and liver.

Janice writes:
The original cancer is inoperable; they have removed the large tumor in his foot. He needs medication to ease his pain and perhaps slow down this awful disease. It is not covered by insurance, and doctors don’t prescribe it here in Germany. We need to travel to get this medicine, which is beyond our financial means. I am hoping that some kind people will help Lothar. This will make him more comfortable and could give him a little more time. I mainly want him to be more comfortable.
