The sensational Norwegian soprano will make her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in a couple of weeks.

The repertoire is Alexander Zemlinsky’s Lyric Symphony, a tribute album to Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde.

So good to see a rising artist exploring the less trodden paths.

In August, she will sing Sieglinde in Bayreuth’s new Ring cycle, followed by the BBC’s Last Night of the Proms.

  • Manu says:

Will be fun to compare her immense voice with the inaudible of decadent Gerhaher.

    • sonicsinfonia says:

Indeed, the baritone part is a big sing – more Holländer than Wolfram but I am sure Gerhaher will bring his own lyricism to it. His performances of Mahler LVDE are some of the finest pieces of singing I ever heard.

      “Decadent”?

  • Ernest says:

Looking forward to her gig with Freddie di Tommaso at the Barbican!

  • Concertgebouw79 says:

I have seen her In Bayreuth last year and I regret to don’t have seen her with Boston this month. she’s maybe the best of her generation I have the feeling.

  • MacroV says:

I love Zemlinsky; looking forward to that.

  • sonicsinfonia says:

“a tribute album to Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde” – album??! The nearest association to music for the word in 1922 when the work was written was probably Schumann or Mendelssohn piano works!

  • Chris says:

She sang Sieglinde on Sunday in Vienna. She got a rapturous reception — and totally deserved.

  • Sam McElroy says:

She has that once-in-a-generation voice. That sort of voice you create in your head as an ideal, never expecting to actually hear it. Her Elisabeth at Bayreuth was one of the highlights of my opera-going life.

  • Rob says:

If only Zemlinsky’s music was actually interesting. He was bloody awful!
