Thielemann to Currentzis: Dump the dirty money

The leading German conductor has advised the Greek-Russian upstart how to re-enter the maninstream.

In a report by Bohema magazine (Vienna), Thielemann said:

„Wäre ich ein Veranstalter, würde ich Currentzis jetzt wahrscheinlich trotzdem einladen, er müsste sich nur irgendwie vom schmutzigen Geld befreien“ „Auch wenn ich musikalisch oft anderer Meinung bin, schätze ich sehr, dass es nie langweilig ist, was er macht.“

‘If I were an organizer, I probably still would invite Currentzis now. He would only have to distance himself somehow from the dirty money. I appreciate it very much, that the things he does are never boring, even if I often don’t agree with him musically.’

Currentzis, whose orchestra has been fiunded by Putin’s VTB bank, is still expecting to appear at bthis summer’s Salzburg Festival.
