Lise has last word on the BBC Proms
NewsLise Davidsen is singing the Last Night.
And she won’t indulge in pops and gimmicks. The arias hare hardcore Wagner, Mascagni and Verdi.

The music of Wagner, Mascagni and Verdi is full of pops and gimmicks.
Very good choice. I like very much this artist.
Pretty lousy season otherwise.
Unless you like Shostakovich and composers being shoe-horned into the Proms for reasons other than musical merit
Pity you don’t enjoy variety of repertoire. Go listen to Bruckner all day, every day. 😉
Wonderful. Let’s hope the conductor can cope with the Prommers’ culture!
Never mind props and gimmicks, nor the pomp and circumstance:
The Royal Albert Hall will be awash once more with hundreds of EU flags as usual.
See EU there!
The Last Night is pretty tedious as it is, don’t make it any worse.
Fabulous singer. I remember her performing newly-composed songs at Tanglewood back in 1988, where she was a student of Phyllis Curtin. So good to see her at the Last Night.
In 1988???She was only 1 year old at that time….
In that case I must be confusing her with someone else! thanks for putting me right!
This was Tanglewood 1988 (note the pianist).
