Last week Russia decided to leave human civilisation.
I wonder if they will be accepted back in my lifetime.
Unlawful wars have been fought by others before. Is Dick Cheney still alive? Is the US accepted back in human civilization after killing hundreds of thousands of civilians in unlawful wars in the last decades?
Utter nonsense. Clichees like this you only hear from those who are in a safe majority position.
If she meant that being pro-war is an acceptable stand, I could listen to her, but… no. She’s a safe stander.
The article is behind a paywall.
(I love Lisa, though.)
Even with a paywall between you the love remains.
Artists are not politicians, and politicians are not artists. One may take a stand on a personal basis, but not as an artist.
You must not live in America: we feast daily on the inspiring, brilliant words of the talentless and stupid from all fields of endeavor.
There is so much mendacity: Matthias Naske, artistic director of the Vienna Konzerthaus, celebrates Currentzis’ 50th birthday in St Petersburg two days before the start of the war. Presumably there were oligarchs there too.
Now Currentzis, who has not condemned this war, is conducting a so-called benefit concert at the Vienna Konzerthaus on 12 April.
It is simply cynical.
Lisa,
Why don’t you write about Georgia attacking South Ossetia and planning to attack Abkhazia in August of 2008? You know, the Georgian military built up and supported by NATO and the US to encroach on Russia.
Zelensky could easily have avoided the disaster in Ukraine but to earn his money (a billion dollars or so) he had to do the bidding of his paymasters, NATO/US and oligarch Kolomoisky who backed him. You know Kolomoisky, the guy who funded the neonazi Azov battalion. B-b-but Kolomoisky is Jewish! Whacky, isn’t it?
Poor Zelensky. It can be so difficult to be a puppet!
Hayne, you certainly know about being a puppet. Lisa didn’t write about it because the Georgians were defending themselves against the Russian-backed South Ossetians & the Russians, who had been shelling Georgian villages over the border. Indeed Russian troops did enter Georgia in violation of a peace agreement. In a way this was Putin’s dress rehearsal for his invasion of Ukraine. And no enticement is/was necessary for these countries to want to join NATO and the EC. Russia– which they hate for prior invasions and murderous despotic rule– is doing a great job driving Eastern European countries AWAY from relations with Russia. Putin is destroying Russia, and the exodus of anyone who has the ability to leave Russia attests to that. I presume you are stuck there?
Yes, Putin is a pest. But it is also true that the US puppets in Georgia started that war back then. It’s not difficult to know these facts.
Norman, I wish you would weed out Russian propaganda like this.
Inconvenient facts are propaganda.
