China’s foremost piano teacher has died, at 93
RIPThe death has been announced of Zhou Guangren, professor at Beijing’s Central Conservatory of Music for more than half a century.
Born in Hannover, she returned with her family to China in the 1933 and enjoyed a brief performing career in the 1950s.
From the 1980s, she appeared on juries at major piano competitions around the world – Cliburn, Rubinstein, and more – and in 1994 she was founding chair of the China International Piano Competition.
