When Tugce Tez launched her daring new boutique two months ago, five artists joined from her former agency, HarrisonParrott.

One of her prize catches was the soaring Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson.

He has suddenly vanished from Tez Arts.

He’s back on the HP roster.

Wonder what changed his mind.

Out now, it says.

Is he still in his finger-paint phase?

Olafsson is always worth listening to, IMO. I found it interesting that in the line-up of stellar pianists appearing at Carnegie Hall this season, they’ve put his recital in Zankel Hall rather than in the main auditorium. I would think he could easily draw enough of an audience to fill the main hall, but I do see that they have a Jordi Savall performance in the main hall that night (how to choose between those two very different concerts? I wish I could bilocate!)

I saw him at the South Bank last month and he chose the smaller Queen Elizabeth Hall over the Royal Festival Hall. It seems he prefers more intimate spaces. For those lucky enough to have a ticket it is of course a better experience, and perfectly suited to his delicate style of playing.
