The Quartet Integra from Japan was awarded the 12,000 euros first prize at the 2021 Bartók World Competition for string quartets.

Second was the Vienna-based Chaos String Quartet and third the Sonoro Quartet of Belgium.

    Chaos? My dictionary defines that as “complete disorder and confusion.” A rather odd name for a musical group, no?

    They’ve given themselves a branding mess. Their name in katakana is Quartetto Integra. But they write it in Roman letters as Quartet Integra. If it is English, the generic descriptor should come second. If it is Italian, as appears, they must stick to that in Roman letters. And then there needs to be gender agreement: Integro.
