Absolutely devastating news. I happen to perform on two of his bows regularly and my father, Dov Schmidt – who is in the trade – has been a tremendous supporter of his making for many years. A lovely man with workmanship and wood selection second to none. May his legacy live on through every sound and bow stroke. RIP
Are you related to Daniel Schmidt in Dresden? I play one of his viola bows.
No relation, but he is also a fantastic maker.
Paolino ti amiamo. Arivederci amico mio.
Paolo was and will be in our most beloved memories. For years, in Cremona, he had his work studio at the apartment I rent.
The best leave first. He loved life and loved his art.
