Biz news: Another two sad losses
RIPThe Austrian festival creator Jo Aichinger has died at 66.
He founded the Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche and the Glatt & Verkehrt festival , along with many other events across Lower Austria. Jo was especially inventive in promoting world music.
Our Spanish partners Scherzo record the death, aged 69, of Oriol Ponsa, former head of the City of Granada Orchestra, the Symphony of Galicia and the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana. He had a torrid time in Valencia, where Helga Schmidt was struggling to maintain cultural life aganst political interference and was herself confined to house arrest. Oriol kep the curtain rising amid intense pressure.
