Christa Ludwig is outstandingly beautiful, as ever. Also Edwin Fischer and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf in their Schubert Lieder recital., and Lotte Lehmann for those with even longer memories.
There is a tranquillity to both the song and to this performance which is probably unrivalled
