Czech Phil is shocked by Covid death
mainThe orchestra has learned of the death from Covid of its long-serving pianist Jaroslav Šaroun.
Among other contributions, Jaroslav Šaroun was pianist on the Czech Philharmonic recording of Rusalka conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras, coaching Renee Fleming, Ben Heppner, Dolora Zajick, and Franz Hawlata in the intricacies of Czech diction.
Jaroslav Šaroun, who was 77, lived in a village on the outskirts of Prague, where he was an expert beekeeper.
