A new raft of grants is being unfurled at midnight.

The period-instrument Hanover Band will receive £75,000 and the Oxford Philharmonia £102,958.

The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment has been granted £37,500. Not much light there.

English Symphony Orchestra got £98,151, English Touring Opera £250,000.

We understand the Hanovers have committed to play this summer in park bandstands around Sussex.

Love reading Slippedisc, but this new website format is hideous! Please go back to the old format, or create a better one! Please!!

Is this the same Oxford Philharmonia that can afford to pay Anne-Sophie Mutter and Maxim Vengerov £00,000’s to play Bach Double for 20 minutes?

They have no salaried members, so very few overheads. Anyone perusing their list of recent soloists can easily see that they must have enough financial resources of their own.
