The Beethoven statue in Bonn, inaugurated by Franz Liszt in 1845, is to receive state aid for massive reconstruction to its base.
Apparently, it is suffering from ‘war damage’.
Must be the dngerous British variant finally kicking in.

Before they fix it, it would be a good idea to check if Beethoven was a slave-owner or otherwise showed support for slavery …
Or if he ever treated women as anything other than as the equals of men…
Is there evidence he showed respect and admiration for native African classical music…?

Yes, it would be a shameful waste of resources to spend money on repairing the base of a statue that will be removed within a couple of years.
B’s chances of woke survival are slim: he treated his housekeepers in a terrible way, on one occasion even throwing a dish back to her when she served it while he was talking to a visitor.
But as a compensation factor it can be argued that he spared the female species his torrentious moods by never marrying, and forgetting to send-off his ‘letter to the faraway beloved’. Such noble restraint should be taken into consideration.
