Celibidache soloist dies, at 97

The Mexico City pianist and teacher Luz María Puente, mother of the pianist Jorge Federico Osorio, has died at a great age.

In 2017, at the age of 93, she performed Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos in Mexico City with her son in a celebrated gala.

During a long career, she performed with Henryk Szeryng, Enrique Batiz, Sergiu Celibidache, Carlos Chávez, Jerzy Semkow, Lorin Maazel, Eduardo Mata and José F. Vásquez.

    Luz María Puente was a gracious, charming, and beautiful woman, loved and respected by many all throughout the world. In addition to her numerous performances with celebrated conductors and instrumentalists, in 2015 she was awarded a Medal in the Merit Category by the National Council for Culture and the Arts in Mexico, and in 2017 she received the Medal of Fine Arts, Mexico’s most prestigious cultural award. She was a great lady and was very proud of her highly celebrated son, Jorge Federico Osorio.

    Or at the very least:
    “FAMOUS MEXICAN PIANIST AND TEACHER DIES, AT 97”.
