She got a music PhD. Then she gave $1m
mainElaine Keillor was the first woman at the University of Toronto to gain a doctorate in musicology.
That was back in 1976.
Elaine spent her entire career researching the music of her native Canada.
She has just given $1 million to continue that research at her alma mater.

Brava Dr. Keillor!
Very generous and worthwhile.
Quite a price for a UT certificate.
What are you denigrating — the lady, or a doctorate from a first-rate music faculty?
No denigration implied , just an observation on
what ever floats the boat you happen to be
sitting in.
“Certificate”? not the way most of us refer to a Ph.D. WHICH she earned many years before the donation, so your unpleasant remark does not even make sense.
And University of Toronto is NEVER referred to as “UT.” That particular designation refers to the University of Texas at Austin.
Probably that million did not came from her faculty salary, but that’s not our problem. Very honorable attitude.
