Lise is fine, Jussi unsurpassable. JK should listen to how a properly trained tenor voice should sound.
I agree. It was probably unfair of NL to juxtapose these two recordings: has anyone ever got close to Jussi in this piece? I’m close to tears every time I hear it!
She is one of the best new singers of today. Her Met concert was fabulous.

There’s something very reminiscent of Birgit Nilsson in the way she hits some of her top notes dead center, no scooping up like so many singers. She’s still quite young but I like her work and can’t wait for her voice to continue to mature; big voices tend to take a little longer!
