Just in: Nicole Cabell and Jamie Barton join new artists agency
mainMichael Benchetrit, 25 years at Columbia Artists, has now hung up his own shield, with a postbox address in New York.
The agency is called Minerva Artists and it has two big stars among 15 vocal artists.
The late Erin Wall was also planning to join.
Michael’s first day at CAMI was my last
Michael is one of the good guys of the industry and was always able to stay above the fray in the CAMI morass. Good luck to him during these challenging times!
“Good guys”? What a joke. He’s pond scum just like his former colleagues. Benchetrit is also one of the laziest sacks of dung one has ever seen.
So I guess that means he declined to add you to his roster . . . . ? Based on your pen name, it’s clear you already have an issue with all things CAMI. Having worked with Michael for decades, I’ve seen no evidence of laziness.
That’s enough sitting on the fence.
It depends on what you consider to be a star: Brenda Rae sings at (or was scheduled to sing at…Corona) the Met, La Scala, Bayerische Staatsoper, Zürich, Wien, Salzburg, Madrid, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Staatsoper Belin, as well as Tokyo, Hong kong, usw.
She actually has probably the biggest career of anyone on the roster: she just hasn’t sung (at all?) in the UK.
An extraordinary ENO Lulu in 2016 under the brilliant Maestro Wigglesworth..!
Imagine thinking Cabell is a bigger star than Russell Thomas or Quinn Kelsey… the former is off teaching for most of the time these days and singing in medium companies on the side. The two men are headliners at the Met and around the world. Won’t argue with Barton though – she’s rather amazing.
Kelsey is a fantastic singer – reason he was the Germont in the new Met Traviata and arguably the best in that opening cast.
