The device has been patented by a firm in Cologne.
It is likely to cause skin cancer.
The handrails couldn‘t care less.
What does that matter when it might stop you getting a cough?
Or at least dermatitis or eczema. Not good for your skin.
How long would you have to ride the escalator to be at risk?
what about sterilization attendees using next patented device? 😉 I mean the process of reducing smear infections, not what you might guess first 😉
Simple and effective prevention, mixed with masks and distancing, can go a LONG way. Any chance we can look forward to sensible solutions in the good ol’ U.S. of AAAAAAY!?*

Perhaps ultra-violet RAYS would be more effective than “ultra-violet rails.”

This is fake news. Sterile implies 100% kill. Domestos ads say 99.9% because they cannot say 100%.
UV does not kill all bugs, it is wavelength and time dependent. Perhaps they like might try Trump’s Chlorine Dioxide!
Sars-cov-2 can remain on fomites for 3-4 days.
“Sterile escalators”! Are they planning to autoclave them? Or use auld Trump’s chlorine dioxide trick. Sterile implies 100% they could be done for misleading the customer. Domestos is only 99.9% for that reason. They cannot claim sterile escalators. Daft.

They will be using Chlorine Dioxide next. UV “sterilisation” is wavelength and time dependent, it does not kill 100%. Sars-cov-2 can be viable for 72 hours+ on fomites.
