Phew. As per the title of this post I was afraid the Maestro was going to attempt to sing the classic Tom Lehrer song.
If only he would, but as with much else it’s plainly beyond his limits of his ‘gifts’ and musical grasp. Lehrer was a genius, Barenboil is not.
He is very good at languages
Lehrer’s pretty good at satirical songs, Barenboim’s your man if you want to hear a Beethoven sonata
Perhaps you’ll find it less “masochistic” when sung in French:

And if you don’t know Berthe Silva, now is a good time to discover her!
Thanks. Love the linked song, which was sung in our house many years ago.

Am I bad to find White hispanics particularly sinister?
Like Afrikaners, the wrong people in the wrong place.
Spain is in Europe. Many people are “white” in Spain. Personally, I would find “whites” in the US more sinister than “whites” in Argentina.
Nice party music.
Fun. I remember a wonderful piano recital at Carnegie Hall around 2000, he played about 10 encores. Very generous.
A super piece and I’d love to play it. Does anyone know the exact title and composer please? Is it perhaps in print as a piano solo?
“Adios, muchachos” by Julio Cesar Sanders. Popularized in America as “I Get Ideas”.
Pleasures…
Only in Argentina, for argentines, in a mediocre piano…
…..are you expecting a Steinway in a restaurant? Or should he say “Oh no, now I see how bad this piano is I don’t want to play it?” Next he’ll be going out into the street to smoke a cigar with the other Portenos………
Lucky Danny has good health all the travelling and smoking. He is approaching
80.
According to Mr Ericsson, his whole thesis had been misunderstood. There never was a claim that 10 000 hours “makes you a genius”. Ok, minor problems! 😉 https://www.goodlifeproject.com/podcast/anders-ericsson/
Sounds like a “player piano”. Please! Don’t let him near a piano. He conducts quite well, but playing the piano is horrible.
Love it ! It soundss like one of the tango-like folksongs Juan Diego Florez sings, or that Pablo Nerudod ances out of his house and onto the terrazo in the film “Il Postino”
The piano bar habitues seem to like it, and Danny ua is to the manner born, but ghis is not “La Cumparsita” but another hugelys.
“Rudy (Valentino) said you have to have real ßpanish tiles to dance the tango”, Norma Desmond ?(Gloria Swanson)onfides to no-one iparticular over Joe’s (William Holden’s) shoulder as the hired orchestra in the ballroom of her Sunset Bouleard mansion, at the party no-one comes to.
