More power to him if he delivers on his promise!
Gimme a break. In a dictatorial regime the Czar can do whatever he pleases. If Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin decides that he wants to show everyone how cultured he is, every opera singer will be paid in full. Or half. Or double. I don’t believe for a moment that Gergiev did this entirely on his own, without a political decision preceding this largesse.
then you clearly don’t know Gergiev 😉
What a silly comment. Did Gergiev promise he’ll pay all of them out of his pocket? Of course not. Did he claim he built the Mariinsky II on his own? Of course not. How did you translate this good news to another argument about the evil Putin’s empire and Gergiev nothing else than a tsar’s servant? Pitiful.
Good old Val!
Eyvazov looks amazingly like Domingo! (Is he singing baritone roles already, too??)
Yusif and his spouse seem addicted to Instagram. She asks questions, he gets answers.
So much love for the Mariinsky Ballet. The 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. Love, love, love… All ballerinas and employees should be paid full, but how about mariinsky release some free ballets for the sitting home guys? Too much to ask?
Dear John,
if when you wrote “release some free ballets” you meant to ask for them to make free broadcasts available, then yes, you can find plenty of them here on their website:
