Instead of a Royal Albert Hall debut, her family played the concerto at home
mainIsata Kanneh-Mason should have been performing Beethoven’s third piano concerto with the RPO at the Royal Albert Hall this weekend, but the Corona crisis intervened and she’s in lockdown in Nottingham with her whole family.
Who promptly formed a scratch orchestra and accompanied her performance in the living room.
Totally heartwarming.
Such a talented family.
Fabulous. The definition of spontaneous Kammermusik-making. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if, as a silver lining to the pandemic, people made more music instead of consuming it? Could spell boom times for musical instrument makers, not least piano makers who need all the help they can muster.
Bravo!!! It’s amazing what some people are doing at home. You can be proud of your family. Good luck and thank you!
Absolutely brilliant what a talented bunch of musians and I would love to hear the full concerto played at the RAH one day, well done you all and thank you for sharing
I can’t get enough of Isata’s playing, just fabulous, and her siblings are superbly talented too. Bravo!
I first heard Isata play live several years ago and literally fell in love, such a gorgeous, beautiful, talented lady. IMHO the true light in a very talented family, and that takes nothing away from Sheku or their other siblings.
Incredible! Bravo from Israel!
Thank you for sharing this — talk about “lemons to lemonade”!! Instead of debuting to several hundred in Royal Albert, she is being heard by many, many more thanks to you.
Bravo, Norman!!
no words, heart warming bravo
A wonderful idea and beautifully executed by the whole family
Even though she’s playing the clearly inferior upright piano than the grand (I guess it was because of the ensemble position) her personality and touch come through so clearly. Brava to her and bravi to her siblings and friends!
at some point soon these guys have to do beethoven triple?
Thank you from South Africa! Please do more for us – it was beautiful
That’s just… I mean, that’s…
Wow.
Incredible drama and tension from a living room
BRAVO, young lady – and to all your accompanying quartet!! Not only a great idea, but a great performance! Thank you – and all best wishes for a well-deserved future – each of you!!
