League of American Orchestras seeks new chief
mainJesse Rosen, President and CEO of the League of American Orchestras, is to retire in September 2020.
‘I will have been at the League for twenty-two years and CEO for twelve,’ Rosen told the League’s 74th National Conference in Nashville. ‘I’ve had an enormously fulfilling experience, but it’s time to begin thinking about the next chapter. The orchestra community has been a source of deep satisfaction and joy, and I’d like to remain a part of it in some new and different way.’
I hereby nominate Kevin Smith as a great candidate for this job, on the heels of his healing presence at the helm of the Minnesota Orchestra.
What do they do?
Siphon enormous fees from orchestras to fund cushy salaries and retirement packages.
This is wonderful news. Maybe the entire League could follow suit and shut its doors once and for all, so that the entire orchestral community may recover its true mission — i.e., further the art form — as opposed to being hijacked and undermined by skillful and articulate sophists whose only ideal, in the end, is their own bottom line.
