Anyone else look closely in that photo to see just how filthy that door is right beside his “star”? Let’s hope it’s not from one (or more) of LA’s thousands of homeless relieving themselves in public.
If you look closely, you can see it’s actually some wet concrete splash back from the new edging put back after installation of the large star tile.
So you’re saying construction workers are lazy and sloppy? In LA, the majority of construction workers are African American or Native American. That makes you a racist.
While it is somewhat fun to walk up and down Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street near their intersection, and read the names of artists who have stars on the sidewalk; a lot of the businesses are not that glitzy. Although the area is slowly improving, in my on-off trips over 17 years, it has been very slow.
Just those couple items merit a “wow!” I hope the mention of “Sunday in the Park” wasn’t intended as disparagement.
And even more eclectic, since neither Led Zeppelin nor The Who are available, I believe that Gustavo and his band will be providing music for the Academy Award broadcast on Sunday.
Wow – that’s a first!
And possibly last, at least for immediate future. While “providing music for the broadcast” is a bit of an overstatement, it is true that LA Phil musicians will indeed be on stage of the Dolby Theater this Sunday evening performing a piece by John Williams during the show’s annual “In Memoriam” segment.
What is wrong with classical musicians gaining a higher profile for an international event? Surely putting our kind of music front and centre is the best way raise its profile. Unless……
And let’s remember that musicians from the LAPO played many of the musical scores for films since the advent of sound. It’s not such a stretch, therefore, to see/hear them at the Academy Awards.
