A renowned soloist having fun with young musicians at a rehearsal? It’s an outrage. Fall of Western Civilization.
But at least there’s live classical music on Instagram.
Lovely! That seems to be the rehearsal for the Salzburg concert with the Mahler Jugendorchester under the greatly talented Viotti. It was a terrific concert from all concerned.

My version of the headline would be: “WHEN CELLISTS DO TRUST THE SOLOIST TO HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR”.
Yup!
Absolutely! And Capuçon has the right attitude about it, unlike some of us…
I can hear Amit Peled now: “How dare you play over Pablo Casals’ cello? Hey everyone, did you hear? I HAVE PABLO CASALS’ CELLO!”
I’m looking forward to his concert tomorrow!
Yet again an unfairly negative headline that misrepresents the story. Students playing a joke on their soloist, that’s nice. Nothing to do with not trusting him.
Next we’ll have “entire orchestra counts rests because they don’t trust conductor to give cue”.
You know the rules! Never look at the conductor! Use your ears!
Look at the cellist instead – especially when he’s a dish like this one!!
Dvorak will think he missed a few tricks there! Lovely bit of fun!
Performed the Dvorak with Janos Starker many moons ago.
A great performance and rehearsal, but not nearly as much fun!
What a great soloist. Just look at how he appreciated the compliment to join him
What a fine musician and how kind to appreciate the other musicians who joined Iin the fun. Great stuff
Thanks
