Verbier is hit by further cancellation
mainWhile all other summer festivals are proceeding more or less as planned, Verbier has suffered a string of late pullouts.
The latest is Ivan Fischer, citing health reasons.
He will be replaced next week by three jump-ins, so no great harm done.
But questions are being asked why Verbier is easier to cancel than, say, Salzburg, Lucerne or the Proms.
Easy . . . Verbrier isn’t Salzburg, Lucerne or The Proms.
It’s “in the heart of the Alps” .
The heart of the Alps is Merano. Switzerland is too far west and too low.
The fees it pays are tiny compared to most other gigs.
I hope Ivan Fischer recovers for his Enesco – Bartok – Mahler performance at the Proms!
Too many jews in Verbier. It is an undesirable audience.
