Radio France is selling off its vinyls
mainThe archive holds 450,000 LPs.
They will start by selling 4,000 by auction on June 19 at the Maison de la Radio.
Among the stock are some rare early electronic music releases.

The plural of vinyl isn’t ‘vinyls’…it’s simply vinyl.
Surely it’s short for ‘vinyl LPs’. Using ‘vinyl’ for plural makes it sound like they’re selling the floor…

Now that the vexing vinyl verbiage is vetted, I wonder if they have digital backups of all the rare recordings. I assume many of the vinyls are duplicated on CD which means they are probably downloadable and/or stream-able. Radio France obviously needs the space for additional bureaucrats from the Ministry to administer budget and personnel cuts.

Sounds quite strange. As far as I know, Radio France already sold a valuable vinyl collection many years ago. Also, from time to time I run into ex-rental copies with Radio France library stickers on my vinyl hunting trips.
