Why is this news? Unless you’re reassuring us that Mirga and baby are well?

  • Frank says:

can’t stand this Mirga pushing on slippe d disc

    Looks like paid advertising

  • Karen says:

Did Mirga once smile at you out of politeness, Norman?

  • william osborne says:

Strange comments. Clearly a celebration of the newly evolving rights of women in music
    — an illustration that motherhood and profession need not be separated as is still claimed in some quarters…

  • John Borstlap says:

I’m sure that the repeated orchestral sounds from so close are very good for the baby (dependent upon the repertoire). The picture of a pregnant woman leading an orchestra is a most encouraging sign that it will be achievement and quality which will increasingly determine musical careers on the rostrum, more so than convention.

I would wholeheartedly advise Mirga to not expose the baby to sounds like these:

…. which could cause serious psychological problems later in life, or aggressive feminism.

Great clip and proof that women can compose as well as men.
In the field of contemporary Jazz trumpet though men still rule…

Actually, studies have been done about exposing a preborn child in the uterus to music.

Hearing is one of the first senses to develop and the last to go. (You must be very careful about what you say in front of a dying person) .

Crying babies after birth will calm down if they hear sounds that are the same as what they heard before birth, for ex. a young children’s story in a certain meter. It reminds them of being safe in the uterus (for that reason young babies are swaddled; they are used to tight warm spaces).

On the other hand a full orchestra, unless it’s playing Brahm’s lullaby might just be a little too stimulating…

      • Petros Linardos says:

Natalie Dessay sang the queen of the night pregnant.

        That must have been stimulating.

“You must be very careful about what you say in front of a dying person.”

You mean in case they wreak their revenge from beyond the grave?

        • Sharon says:

I was thinking more along the line of hurting their feelings before they passed.

But who knows? Many cultures believe that spirits of the dead can help/hurt the living or intecede with G*d or some angel to change events or help/hurt someone on earth

  • CarminaB says:

I find using pregnancy for PR absolutely tasteless. Like in very profession, being pregnant doesn’t stop one from working till the last month , unless something is unfortunately wrong. So what is all this fuss about ?

  • Tamino says:

It’s just beautiful to look at. Life…

  • Pedro says:

Is that the reason of the silence of CBSO regarding next season’s information?
