Young maestro is out for the month
mainRobin Ticciati has cancelled three weeks of concerts, first with Bavarian Radio, then with Santa Cecilia in Rome and DSO Berlin.
He is suffering from a slipped disc. We wish him better.
DSO Berlin are flying in Ludovic Morlot from Seattle.
Hope he is better soon. Rehearsals start soon for Meistersinger at Glyndebourne!
I wish him a prompt recovery, but I once saw him dancing/bouncing from foot to foot while conducting Tod und Verklärung (by Strauss) and thought, what an idiot! Wouldn’t go near him again.
I think his appointment at Glyndebourne is all about pretty-boy marketing, and the most annoying part is that each appointment made this way blocks an opportunity for another man, or woman, who might actually have talent. There are such people, wonderful young insightful conductors with the talent to understand a score and inspire and command an orchestra but who don’t get far because their looks are plain.
From the DSO-Berlin website:
Please note: Robin Ticciati, DSO’s designated Music Director, unfortunately had to cancel his involvement in February 28th’s concert because of a slipped disc.
So much for his chance to prove his credibility to the Berlin audiences…
