Which US opera boss uses this image as his Facebook ID?
mainThe scene is from a Belgian opera house.
It is what one US opera chief has chosen as his Facebook pic.
Strange fact: The Belgian conductor who has just been fined for taking sneaky pictures on a French nudist beach is on the staff of this same US opera company. He and the opera boss seem to share a common interest in the human form.
How is this artistically or even intellectually elevating? It’s base and low. I’m not “shocked” I’m nauseated that we have lost our mooring.
“When a man stops believing in God he doesn’t then believe in nothing, he believes anything.”
This quote of Chesterton echoes what Nietzsche warned decades earlier. We are lost and wandering. Music could at least provide something elevating and secure to hold onto, until this type of pollution comes along.
Crumbs. Settle down. It’s just some naked bodies.
Base, low, nauseated, lost our mooring, lost, wandering, pollution? I am beginning to find Spencer Tunick’s installations a little tedious, but your own reaction seems rather extreme!
Personnally, I find these recurrent calls for “God (to) come back and guide our lives” a lot more nauseating than a Spencer Tunick “installation”….
Has everyone given up pointing out that the images posted here are tiny and barely visible ? I can vaguely make out numerous naked people.
The guy in Seattle.
Belgian opera house? isn’t this the Stadsschouwburg in Amsterdam, Holland?
apparently the photographer, Spencer Tunick, is quite interested in the world of opera, having done similar installations in Munich and Sydney.

correction:
it is, in fact, the stadsschouburg in Brugge, Belgium.
It is positively insane.
Not only that, Norman. I hear that some of the people in this photo play cards on the Sabbath and bare their arms in church!
NO, they don’t play cards on Sabbath, they EAT BABIES ! Live ones too….
Sadly this photo shows the representative audience of operas: white, middle aged, flabby.
You get younger, more in-shape people in the balconies, just like at the Met. (I downloaded the picture and enlarged it — for research purposes. 😉
Copley’s dream chorus.
