Classical cellist breaks into top of the pops
mainSheku Kanneh-Mason has burst into the UK pop charts at number 18 with his debut album, Inspiration.
The album was recorded in his hometown Nottingham, and in Birmingham with the CBSO and music director Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla.
It is, needless to say, #1 in the classical charts.
It is also the fastest selling release by any UK debut artist this year.
Congratulations! Hope this is the first many accolades, you’ve earned it
Maybe now he can afford to fly with it.
Let’s have airlines execs take a look here–
See cello?

Winners are grinners; loser are victims.
Huh?
The most beautiful “Jacqueline’s Tears” I have ever heard!
And what about the musical quality? Choice of repertoire? Is it an anectodal success or insightful music making? Hype or art?
I don’t think Yo Yo Ma said this!
I agree with you Karen. Yo Yo would not have written that comment.
I’m sure you can hear it on YouTube and make up your mind without making him rich.
Of course, if your questions are rhetorical, then you already know the answers.
Comment obviosly not written by Yo Yo Ma and not intended to be percieved as such. Just asked legit. questions which no one bothers to address. My general feeling is thst indded there is too much hype, not enough musicianship.
Thanks for expressing an actual opinion.
