This defiant soprano turns 100 this week
mainHilde Zadek was evacuated from Poland as a German at the end of the First World War.
She fled Germany as a Jew to Palestine in 1934.
Thirteen years later, she joined the Vienna State Opera as one of its Golden Age cast, singing there for 20 years.
She is still going strong. This Friday, Hilde will turn 100.
