I’m happy for them, but the way things are going in Philly, I worry that they may not have an orchestra to play with once they hit middle age.

How is this news? It would be news if they hired string players NOT from Curtis…!
True – the Orchestra has a long history of connections to Curtis with many of its principal players not only teaching there, but having graduated from there as well.
God forbid they should get some seasoning and experience before joining what is supposedly one of the world’s top orchestras. They hire them to pre-empt their joining any other orchestras.
