This is very practical for ballet performances of Stravinsky’s ‘Les Noces’ (which requires 4 grand pianos) in theatres with small pits: you can do with two arc pianos and put 2 players in each. Also ideal for tours because light-weight.
For piano teachers the arc piano is economically and disciplinary advantageous: you can teach 3 children in the same time since the keyboard consists of three complete keyboard ranges, and when they are locked-up in the instrument their behavior can be controlled quite easily. Parents can sigh with relief too because of the barrier which protects their offspring from indecent fumbling by the teachter.
Regardless of the number of keys, still have ten fingers to use on it…
I hardly think anyone would want to perform Stravinsky on an electronic keyboard.
I believe this is Trifonov’s personal piano.
