Unspeakable tragedy
Devastating news. Maria had a wonderful gift and was a very special colleague. The warmth of her voice was matched by that of her person. She sang a magnificent Anna in our production of Les Troyens in Milan last year. I will never forget her Stimme von Oben in Die Frau Ohne Schatten. For the best acoustic effect we placed her in the little chamber above the central chandelier in La Scala where she enchanted the audience and all of us each evening. Farewell, lovely Maria.

Maria performed for Rosenblatt Recitals in 2010 . She had a wonderful and truly rare voice. What a distinctive sound! More importantly was a lovely person to spend time with.This is horrific news
