mainSimon Dobson is passionate, expressive composer. He writes mostly for brass bands. Not much brass in that.
Last year before Christmas, he sold the last of his instruments to avoid becoming homeless.
This month he was named British Brass Composer of the Year for this quirky and original piece:

Good for you, Simon! Great piece of music (and great conducting and playing!)! However, the story does serve to underline how cold it is out there nowadays for artists of all kinds – the financial crisis has hidden, very murky depths and the end is not in sight yet! Wish I could be more optimistic….
