The man who broke, and broke up, Simon and Garfunkel

The death has been announced of Mike Nichols, the movie director. He made Simon and Garfunkel into huge stars by using their songs as soundtrack to The Graduate. Then he was blamed for their break-up, by giving Garfunckel a major role in Catch-22 and consigning Simon to the cutting floor.
