Singing Schoenberg is ‘like cuddling with skeletons’

Not a metaphor that springs readily to the mind of one who loves nothing better than performing Survivor from Warsaw.

But it’s the feeling that Kiera Duffy gets when she sings Pierrot Lunaire – as she will this weekend at Carnegie Hall with the Met Chamber Ensemble. Maybe because she started out as a conductor.
