    Annual deaths from ALS: 5600
Annual deaths from no access to fresh water: 3,400,000

    • Max Grimm says:

Well put, William. An easy way to circumvent the “wasting water” criticism would be for those completing the challenge, to use and “recycle” the water from natural bodies of water close by.

Whenever there is such worldwide publicity for a cause, one can’t help thinking is it too good to be true? Leave it up to the Mass Media to promote yet again an anti-social agenda under the guise of doing good. Even if it were admitted that stem cells are used in research, the unpleasant details are conveniently left out.

    From the horse’s mouth:
“These stem cells have been engineered from the spinal cord of a single fetus
electively aborted after eight weeks of gestation. The tissue was obtained with the ‭mother’s consent.” (not with the baby’s consent, presumably)

    http://www.catholicvote.org/the-top-6-things-you-need-to-know-about-als-research/‮
“Embryonic stem cell research usually begins when scientists manufacture conception within a lab. Once conception has been manufactured, the tiny human is allowed to grow for about 3-5 days. Then, the developing human is usually killed in order to harvest the stem cells for research.
At 8 weeks, an unborn child’s heart is beating about 100 times a minute while his or her fingers and toes are still a bit webbed, the eyelids are now almost fully covering his or her eyes.”

It is possible that enviromental toxins may play a bigger role, up to perhaps 90%, in the development of ALS:
“The researchers were involved in discovering how a toxin in blue-green algae can contaminate food and cause problems in the central nervous system.”
