A lot of interesting points. I am surprised, though, that she makes no mention of what we might call basic stagecraft. I recall listening to endless auditions in a theatre with basic working lights enhanced by a couple of spotlights widely focussed around the centre front stage. I lost track of the number of singers who would stand outside those lights. It was almost as though they were unaware of anything other than what they were singing. A singer who has not the presence of mind to feel comfortable on a stage starts the audition off at a considerable disadvantage.
