Ex-Chetham’s teacher pleads guilty to sex assaults on teenaged girl
mainThe conductor Nicholas Smith, a former head of chorus at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, pleaded guilty on Friday to sexual abuse of a teenaged girl, a pupil at the school, between between 4 May 1976 and 3 June 1978.
Smith, who is 66, will be sentenced in September. He is the second Chetham’s department head, after Michael Brewer, to be tried for sex crimes.
